It’s the Quilting Gallery’s 5th birthday and there’s a whole lot of celebrating going on!  It’s a world-wide party with lots of give-aways from quilters all over the world for quilters all over the world.

We will have two giveaways for this birthday party!

The first giveaway is a classic book by Jo Morton published by C&T Publishing

This book is filled with many small quilt projects for many rooms in your home.  It’s not a new book but it’s one that you will definitely want to add to your quilting library.

The second giveaway is a Christmas Wallhanging kit featuring fabrics from a recent Laurel Burch collection from Clothworks Fabrics.

You might not be able to finish it for this Christmas season but it will be a lovely wallhanging for years to come.

New Block of the Month programs for 2013

Well, it’s time to start thinking about enrolling for a block of the month program and we’ve got some great ones from which to choose.

Contessa from Wing and a Prayer Designs
This is a gorgeous cream, green, red and gold quilt. It has a Christmas look to it but it’s one that can be used all year round.

It’s a twelve month program and you’ll enjoy each month’s part of the project.

 

Civil War Melodies from Marcus Brothers
This is the fourth Civil War Block of the Month program in remembrance of the 150th year anniversary of the Civil War. It features Judie Rothermel’s Civil War Melodies fabric collection and was designed by Homestead Hearth.

You will have fun making multiple blocks each month with a new selection of fabrics in each packet.


Afternoon Delight from Susan Garman

A delightful quilt featuring both pieced and appliqued blocks. We’ll be using a wide variety of Civil War and reproduction fabrics for the blocks in this project.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Each month you will make a selection of pieced blocks and applique blocks. You’ll look forward to the packet you receive each month.

Finish (almost) Any Quilt – Book Review

The very first sentence in the book ‘This is not a traditional quilt book’ tells you that you are in for a treat! So many quilting instruction books are published these days and after a while they all run together.

Every day my customers come in and say ‘I can’t buy anything else until I finish the projects I’ve started’. Well, no I have just the book to offer them to help with that objective.

Many subjects are covered in this book – finishing existing blocks, setting the blocks with or without sashings, setting those blocks in a straight manner or on point, with or without borders. Marguerita is also honest by telling you that not all blocks and or quilts will work with the ‘finish as you go’ method.

Finish (almost) Any Quilt is self-published. This allowed Marguerita to include far more color pictures and illustrations than you will ever find in a book released by one of the major publishers. Marguerita also shot videos as she created the projects for the book. She is releasing those videos as an added bonus on her Crazy Shortcut Quilts Youtube Channel (be sure you subscribe so you don’t miss a one of them).

There is no way you can go wrong with this book if you are working your way through your stash. I have added it to my quilt book library and I’m recommending it to my students and customers.

We are all looking for timesavers so we have more time to actually quilt.

A die-cutter and a few dies will really help you ‘bust your stash’. Once you get in the habit of cutting those leftover pieces into useable strips and squares, you’ll find that making a scrap quilt is a breeze.

Here’s how it’s going to work -


  • December 6th through December 16th, we will post a short video describing the newly discounted items. We are still looking around and making our list (and checking it twice) so we really can’t tell you just exactly what they will be right now.
  • The special pricing for those items will be available through December 16th (or when we run out of an item).
  • If you would like for us to put one in your gift bag, call us during shop hours, or order it online** and we will hold it for you. Of course, you can always come into the shop and purchase the item immediately.
  • You DO NOT have to buy anything each day – only those that appeal to you. Be sure to forward the email to the Santa(s) in your family with a big hint as to what you like each day. We are really good at keeping secrets so tell Santa to fill your bag! The other thing to remember, quantities will be limited on some of these offers. Don’t wait too long to place that order, you might lose out!
  • We are not open on Sunday, so you’ll place your order online** those days.
  • You can come into the shop (better yet, send Santa) on or after December 16th to pick up your bag of goodies. It will be ready to put under your Christmas tree – act really surprised that morning! We will ship all online orders on the 17th using 2nd Day Priority.
