History of the Log Cabin Quilt Shop!January 15,1981 was the first day of business for the Log Cabin Quilt Shop in a storefront located behind Big Fred's Pizza at 119th and Pacific. Customers and friends frequented this location for the next 8 years.
In January 1989, the Log Cabin Quilt Shop moved to the Westwood Shopping Center located at 120th and Center. Located in a single bay on the backside of the shopping center, business continued for andother 7 years.
In 1996, in order for the Beauty School to expand, the Log Cabin Quilt Shop moved 3 bays to the west.
In 2002, the Log Cabin Quilt Shop expanded to two bays and is in this location to this day.
In late 2009, the Log Cabin Quilt Shop relocated to the One Val Verde Shopping Center in La Vista Nebraska.
There have been several owners across the almost 30 years of business. Each one has instilled a sense of tradition, as well as a spirit to anticipate the coming trends, in her successor.
Currently, Margie Wallace, is the owner of the Log Cabin Quilt Shop. She purchased the shop in November 2008.
Margie started an online quilt shop in 1999 which specialized in patterns for applique, her true love and passion. Since that time, she has had, and still has online quilt businesses dealing with Civil War Fabrics, bargain Fat Quarters, and a full-service online quilt shop.
In 2003, in partnership with her sister, they opened a full service brick and mortar quilt shop in O'Neill Nebraska. That shop, Quilters Candy Shoppe, is still going strong today.
The mission statement for the Log Cabin Quilt Shop is as follow:
We strive to maintain the traditional values of quilting. We are dedicated
to encouraging new folks to trying quilting as a craft and art form. We
hope never to lose focus on our loyal friends and customers. The Log Cabin
Quilt Shop has always been known as the friendliest quilt shop in the area.
We are proud of that reputation and we will work diligently to keep that title.
